Some people think buying a home warranty means they can have contractors out whenever they want, and they won’t have to open their wallets. This is mostly false.
If you have a problem with your water heater, and another problem with your dishwasher, you will owe a fee for the visit on each appliance.
If you have a problem with your water heater, and then 2 weeks later the same water heater goes out again, you probably don’t have to pay the fee twice. Your home warranty company should send the same contractor out, free of charge, to complete the repair. Most likely the breakdown was caused by something the original contractor did or didn’t do. They aren’t superheroes – sometimes they miss broken items and have to come back a second time. This can be inconvenient when you have to stay home from work multiple times, but you shouldn’t have to pay a fee over and over.
