If you have high end appliances in your home, like Viking, first let me congratulate you! You must be doing very well for yourself. But will a home warranty cover those expensive items when they break? The short answer is yes, but only to a certain dollar amount.
Read your contract carefully. It will explain any coverage limits the company may have. Typically limits range from between $3000-$5000 for repair or replacement work on major systems and appliances. So your repair may be covered, but a replacement of a $10,000 stove is very unlikely. Hopefully your original manufacturer’s warranty can help you out in this situation.
There are some smaller, less reliable companies who will exclude certain brands. I’ve even heard stories of them not telling you these exclusions up front. That is not a situation you want to be in, so be sure you pick a reputable home warranty company. If you’re still unsure, call the company and ask them about specific brands or models to be sure you’re covered. A few minutes of your time could save you a major headache later.
